PayPal and Indian event management company Utopia Communications engaged AugRay to develop a crowd engaging experience that would allow attendees to have fun onsite and take home a keepsake from the “Women’s Empowerment Network Conference 2014” in Chennai.


AugRay installed an augmented reality zone onsite at the “Women’s Empowerment Network Conference 2014”. Attendees received the red carpet treatment as they were welcomed by one of Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars, or at least his augmented reality version. Brad Pitt took center stage. Attendees were amazed as they scanned banners and standees and Brad Pitt came alive in their AugRay app. Attendees took a picture with their phone using the AugRay app for a one of a kind keepsake of themselves with the famous actor. Attendees could share their picture on social media, or through SMS with their friends and families and receive a printed copy in a custom frame to take home with them.



The surprise element of AugRay resulted in a high level of excitement among the participants at the event. Users were found interacting with the app and sharing selfies and groupies of themselves with the actor. The highly trafficked AugRay AR Zone resulted in engagement of the audience inside the AR zone and acted as a facilitator of professional networking in and around the zone. The sharing of pictures increased social media trending and awareness of the event during and after the conference.
